The new Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer 8

A version of Internet Explorer browser optimized for Yahoo! is available for download in several languages. There are several new features that are impressive and I admit they are good. One is the home page option. If before there is just one home page you can set, now you can add as many websites as you want for your home page.

Another noticeable difference from previous version is the menu box. It has tabs for suggested sites from your favorite folder. And for me the suggested sites could have been what I would choose manually. My laptop is wide screen and the bar addition reduces some vertical space though.

In the address bar, it is kind of cool that the main domain name is highlighted and the sub domains or folder names are grayed out. It is easy to see what is the main domain you are in. There is also a compatibility view for websites designed for older versions and Internet Explorer 8 can fix some broken or misaligned texts or images. Also there is a “web slice” feature where you can add a website content to your slices and it will be added to your favorites folder and you can view the site’s updated contents and feeds easily.

It is noticeably faster than the old one and the appearance is much better and attractive, said to be more secure with its SmartScreen filter against malwares. Overall, I like it, as with Mozilla Firefox browser.

Internet Explorer 8 is more stable than IE 7 that is why i like it. I always experience freezing browser window in IE 7.
